One of the most interesting sections in my newsletter is air defence—especially counter-drone measures. This year has brought plenty of innovations. Russia has intensified its drone and missile attacks against Ukraine: in September, it launched its largest combined strike since the start of the war, firing a total of 823 projectiles at Ukraine.
In response, Ukraine has continued developing its layered air-defence system, combining multiple elements: traditional surface-to-air systems, aviation, mobile fire teams, and the standout capability of this year—interceptor drones.
