Ukraine Drone Brief is turning into a global brief, as hybrid attacks involving drones have become a new reality across European countries, while even a Russian jet-powered UAV has crashed in a neighboring state.

Ukraine Drone Brief covers more than 30 weekly developments in drone warfare.

Also, check out my long-form reports:

  • Drone warfare in Ukraine: medium-range UAVs and jet-powered threats;

  • Arms Trends in Ukraine: 07 September - 13 September, 2026.

Aerial Drones

  • Ukraine has established production of more than 2,000 Bars jet-powered drones per month. They are being used in special operations.

  • Russia is experimenting with deploying FPV drones from Shahed-type attack UAVs, although there is currently no evidence of this tactic being used on a large scale.

  • Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) has published data on the foreign-made equipment used in the production of Geran drones at Alabuga. The equipment includes a Chinese SMTCL VMC 1000Q vertical machining centre, a Japanese JUKI RS-1R automated component-placement machine, and a German Festo mechatronics production line equipped with a Mitsubishi Melfa industrial robot from Japan.
