This week has been particularly productive for new cooperation deals. Ukraine reached a major agreement with Canada; new drone partnerships were announced, and Ukraine will help Germany better protect its critical infrastructure from Russian drones.

Read about these and other developments in my Ukraine Drone Brief, which features over 30 weekly updates.

Also, check out my recent open-access article in the Ukrainian outlet Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, where I discuss opportunities for Ukraine–Colombia cooperation on drones. I’m always excited about exploring new partnerships for the Ukrainian defence industry.

Thank you for reading and supporting my work!

  • On September 9, Ukraine’s deep strike units carried out their longest-range strike on Russian territory, covering approximately 3,200 km (almost 2,000 miles). Ukrainian drone manufacturer Fire Point confirmed that its FP-1 drones were used in the operation.

  • Ukraine’s Bars jet-powered drone has been upgraded to a range of up to 1,000 km, a warhead weighing up to 60 kg, and a speed of more than 700 km/h. The upgraded version also reportedly features online control during the final stage of flight.

  • Over the first eight months of 2026, Ukraine’s MoD approved over 1,500 types of equipment for supply to the Defence Forces. Nearly 91% were domestically produced in Ukraine. The list includes: 565 Ukrainian UAVs; 256 types of munitions; 139 communications systems; 86 UGVs; 64 electronic warfare/electronic intelligence systems; 52 vehicles; 48 types of armoured vehicles and specialized armoured vehicles; 37 types of optical equipment.
