About me

My name is Olena, I am a Ukrainian defence analyst currently based in Canada. In January 2024, I began monitoring developments and publishing Ukraine’s Arms Monitor weekly newsletter on LinkedIn. As of January 2025, I have transitioned exclusively to Substack.

I am a former Senior Editor at the NATO Association of Canada and a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Defence Innovation at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.

Ukraine’s Arms Monitor is not sponsored by any organization or individual — it is an exclusively subscriber-supported publication.

All articles on my Substack are written in my personal capacity. I am also open to collaborations, consulting opportunities, and research projects with relevant organizations globally. For cooperation, contact: olena.uamonitor@gmail.com

What are the benefits of a subscription?

I offer newsletters that will help you evaluate the military threats posed by Russia and its allies, understand Ukraine’s efforts and creative military technology, and observe what its Western allies are doing in this increasingly insecure environment:

Main products:

  1. Arms Trends in Ukraine (weekly): concise summaries of military transfers to Ukraine, military cooperation projects, innovations, and developments on the battlefield from the past week. Published every Monday.

  2. Ukraine Drone Brief (weekly): short on time? This 2-page weekly brief distills the key developments in unmanned warfare in Ukraine and Russia—across domains (aerial, ground, naval drones), C-UAS, industry activity, and geopolitical implications. For VIP subscribers only. Published every Saturday.
